A lot of the other commentators on the Web who've addressed Islam and Islamism have minced words to an unbelievable degree. Even the best have made statements to the effect that they don't object to Islam apart from its jihadist prescriptions and Islamist political tendencies. A couple have protested, when accused of bigotry, that they "love Muslims." Statements of that sort can be found even at otherwise terrific sites like Pamela Geller's Atlas Shrugs.
Allow me to differ: I hate Islam. It's a vile, racist, imperialist, totalitarian creed founded on premises that would insult the intelligence of a houseplant. Because it claims divine sanction, it's worse than Nazism and Communism. I condemn it, root and branch.
Concerning Muslims, there are three sorts:
- Islamists (which includes the jihadists);
- Non-Islamist but otherwise sincere believers in the creed;
- Insincere or "cosmetic" Muslims, who mouth the creed to avert terrible consequences.
I have sympathy only for the third group, though I can't say much for the courage of its members. A member of the first group is a murderer-in-embryo if not in realized fact; a member of the second group is an imbecile, regardless of his proficiency in other realms.
So when I encounter an article such as this:
The U.S. government’s aid to Egypt’s government has been a matter of some controversy of late, and this probably won’t help: According to Egyptian cleric Dr. Khaled, our payments to Egypt constitute a payment of jizya, the tax laid upon non-Muslims living under sharia in return for dhimmi status (whereby they can be left alone, albeit as second-class citizens). He explained: “If the revolution declares a framework for dealing with the West and America — they will accept it, kiss our hands, and double the aid they give us. We consider this aid to be jizya, not regular aid. . . . They pay it for the right of passage through our airspace and territorial waters. . . . They pay so that we will let them be.”
...I get that old, black-magic impulse to lock and load.
Hey, remember how Obama, immediately after his 2009 inauguration, took Air Force One to Cairo to apologize to the Muslim Middle East? Remember how obsequious he was toward the Muslim world -- how he begged forgiveness for America's history of acting in its own interests?
And were you aware that we just sent another multi-million-dollar aid package to Egypt, including quite a nice collection of tanks and fighter jets?
The linked article is the thanks we get.
What to do about it? I'm sure you can figure that out for yourself. But we have to expel The Won from the White House before we can proceed with it. Yes, there are a lot of good reasons to kick his wormy ass to the curb. This is just the one uppermost on my mind in the wee hours of this fine March morning.
